Nantucket Lighthouse School

Founded in 1999, the Nantucket Lighthouse School is an independent day school serving children ages 31⁄2-11. At Lighthouse School, we believe that strengthening the fabric of the community begins here, with each child. Our goal at Lighthouse is to engage the whole child through a comprehensive and developmentally appropriate educational experience. Our class sizes are manageable and intimate.

Our teachers are highly skilled. Our results speak for themselves. Lighthouse School students are eloquent, confident, happy, well-balanced, thriving island children. They are the kind of children who will grow up to be respected and productive members of the community.

Casino Royale, July 7, 2007, 6pm, Nantucket Lightship. Play poker, eat great food, hit the slots and dance the night away to the Sultans of Swing aboard the historic lightship in Nantucket Harbor.

Storytelling Workshop with Jay O’Callahan, Aug 11, 2007, 9am-noon, Nantucket Atheneum Gallery. Lighthouse School and the Nantucket Atheneum present a workshop with this master storyteller.

Storytelling with Katie Latimer, Oct 26, 2007, 7pm, Nantucket Lighthouse School. Lighthouse School and the Nantucket Atheneum present this award-winning storyteller.

The Tell-Tale Heart, re-told by Katie Latimer, Oct 27, 2007, 7pm, Nantucket Atheneum Great Hall. Lighthouse School and Nantucket Atheneum present Edgar Allen Poe’s classic tale.

Open House Thursdays; November 8, 15 & 29, 2007, 11am. Prospective parents meet teachers, students, tour classrooms, and learn more about Lighthouse curriculum.

Yuletide Fair, Dec 8, 2007, 10am-2pm, Nantucket Lighthouse School. Kid-friendly activities, holiday gifts, quality handcrafts, portraits by Cary Hazlegrove, and tasty seasonal fare.
