Nantucket Tennis & Swim Club
On July 6-8th, the Nantucket Tennis and Swim Club hosts the first major tennis event of the season, the Nantucket Open Charity Tennis Tournament and Cocktail Party. The Club invites players of every level to participate in the Men’s, Women’s and Mixed Doubles, and join us in serving up a true Win-Win as we put our competitive spirit to work to help others.
The Club will once again be partnering with One World Projects, a socially-driven enterprise that imports handcrafted products from 11,000 artisans in 25+ developing countries. Social enterprises are businesses whose primary mission is to apply the concepts of “free enterprise” and fair trade to help the poor build sustainable livelihoods. The very best, like One World Projects, become integral to building the local communities, providing jobs, training, health education, schooling, and most importantly, hope for the future.
Throughout the weekend, visitors will be able to purchase unique gifts made by these talented, hardworking artisans using traditional skills and indigenous materials from Africa, Latin America and Asia. There will also be a silent auction featuring items from Nantucket artisans and businesses that will benefit One World Projects as well as a local charity.
The enthusiasm of all who took part in last year’s tournament weekend meant that we not only enjoyed ourselves, but we were able to make a generous donation to Nantucket’s A Safe Place and purchase a table saw for young boys in Colombia who are learning to fashion jewelry out of coal as an alternative to working in coal mines.
We look forward to welcoming even more of you this year.
So, get the season off to a great start – meet new players, reconnect with summer friends and help the artisans of One World Projects – a true Win-Win all the way around! Join us July 6-8th at the Nantucket Tennis and Swim Club, 23 Nobadeer Farm Road.
