2 p.m. at The Nantucket Lightship Basket Museum, 49 Union St. One of its most popular events and a great opportunity for you to learn more about your lightship basket. Lee Ann Papale, scrimshander and basket-care expert; renowned basketmaker Alan Reed; and antiques expert John Sylvia, will be available to authenticate and provide an appraisal for $15 per basket.

Lightships of Nantucket
2 p.m. The Nantucket Lightship Basket Museum, 49 Union St. Join the museum and the author of “Historic Nantucket Lightships on New South Shoal: 1854-1896,” as he brings to life the treacherous existence of the sailors who first created the Nantucket lightship basket.

Lightships: Guardians of Nantucket Island
2 p.m. at The Nantucket Lightship Basket Museum, 49 Union St. Shipwrecks, lives lost, cargo ruined…the dangerous waters around Nantucket saw it all. Lightship historian Doug Bingham brings to life the stories of these floating guardians where our basket craft began.

Tim Parsons Carving Demonstration
2 p.m. at The Nantucket Lightship Basket Museum, 49 Union St. Free admission all day and a special treat.Watch as island basket-maker and carver Tim Parsons demonstrates the art of carving wood, ivory and fossilized mammoth.

Nantucket Arts Festival
